COLUMBUS - This week, State Senator Kevin Bacon (R-Minerva Park) joined Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections Director Gary Mohr to present a resolution honoring Warden Ronette Burkes on being named 2016 Ohio Warden of the Year.

“I am honored to recognize the commitment and diligence of Warden Ronette Burkes," said Senator Bacon. “It is because of her dedication, compassion and hard work that she was rightly named the Warden of the Year by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.”

Burkes began her career with the Ohio Department of Corrections as a volunteer at the Office of Victim Services and was later hired to coordinate the program in 2000. She was appointed as deputy warden at the Franklin Pre-Release Center, now known as the Franklin Medical Center in Columbus. Burkes has served as warden since 2013.

Senator Bacon presented Warden Burkes with a resolution on Wednesday during a special presentation on the floor of the Ohio Senate.
