Columbus -
The Governor's Council on People with Disabilities announced today that State  Senator Kevin Bacon (R - Minerva Park) has been named its Legislator of the Year. The Council  recognized Bacon at an event held at the Ohio Statehouse.

The honor is the latest in a series that has recognized Bacon's work on behalf of those with  special needs. The legislator has previously received similar honors from the Autism Society of  Ohio, the Association of County Boards of MRDD, ARC of Ohio, and the American Academy  of Pediatrics.

"I am truly grateful for this honor and will remain committed to promoting equality for those  who are challenged by disabilities," said Bacon. "I look forward to following the great work that  the Council does and hope to assist them as their advocacy efforts move forward."

The Governor's Council on People with Disabilities provides an advisory role to the General  Assembly and Governor. The cornerstone of their work is to promote equality, access,  independence, and acceptance through partnerships at the local, state, and national levels.
