COLUMBUS— Following today’s announcement by Governor John Kasich that the treatment of autism will be covered under state employee health insurance, health insurance sold in the private market and plans sold through the healthcare exchange, State Senator Kevin Bacon (R- Village of Minerva Park) issued the following statement:

“This decision will vastly improve the lives of children with autism, along with their families. Studies have shown that children with autism who receive early intervention have better outcomes in school and are able to function more independently.

“I applaud Governor Kasich for his decision to ensure that children with autism are able to access important services and treatment.”

“In many cases current law does not allow for prosecution of individuals who intentionally avoid and knowingly violate protection orders,” said Bacon.
