Columbus - 
State Senator Troy Balderson (R- Zanesville) announced today that the State Controlling Board approved grants totaling $575,000 to assist low-income and handicapped individuals in Southeastern Ohio with home repairs. A total of $5 million was awarded to organizations throughout the state as part of the Department of Development's Housing Assistance Grant Program. "The struggling economy has had an affect on all Ohioans, but those with lower incomes and disabled individuals have been hit especially hard," Balderson said. "This money will help many people in the region with needed home repairs and modifications." The local projects funded by this grant will be overseen by the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development (COAD), the Community Action Program Corporation of Washington-Morgan Counties, and the Tri-County Community Action Committee. The money will be used to provide emergency home repairs and handicapped accessibility modifications. In total, the grant money will benefit 304 individuals in 152 households throughout the 20th Senate District.
Senator Balderson represents the 20th Senate District of Ohio, which is made up of Athens, Coshocton, Guernsey, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, and Washington Counties
