Statehouse -

Ohio Senate President Keith Faber today appointed State Senator Troy Balderson (R–Zanesville) to serve as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. During the previous legislative session, Balderson served as the Vice Chairman of the Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee, a panel that has been modified as part of the committee restructuring in preparation for the 130th General Assembly.

“Energy development and expansion is playing a key role in Ohio’s economic recovery,” said Balderson. “I am honored to lead the charge on this important and growing industry in Ohio as chairman.”

Senator Balderson has played a key role in both crafting Ohio’s policies for safe energy exploration as well as encouraging workforce development in that industry.

In addition to his chairmanship, Senator Balderson will also serve as the Vice Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee.

“Accounting for more than $105 billion in Ohio investment, Agriculture is our state’s number one industry,” added Balderson. “Having farmed myself, I know the importance of Ohio agriculture and I look forward to supporting this key sector of our economy.”

Senator Balderson will also serve as a member of the Senate Public Utilities, Education, Transportation, and Workforce Development Committees as well as the Finance Subcommittee on General Government.
