COLUMBUS - State Senator Bill Beagle (R-Tipp City) today announced the appointment of 15 non-legislative members to the Ohio Aerospace and Aviation Technology Committee (OAATC) for the 132nd Ohio General Assembly. In February, Senator Beagle was appointed as chairman of the panel for a two-year term. 

"I look forward to working with this group of leaders to ensure that Ohio's aviation and aerospace technology industry maintains its standing as a national and world leader," said Beagle. "Aviation is not just a hallmark of Ohio's past, it will continue to play an instrumental role in the state's robust economic future."

The goal of the OAATC and its members is to develop specific policies aimed at enhancing industry in Ohio. The committee is comprised of both elected legislators and members of the public with experience in the aerospace and aviation community. 

Today, the following 15 public representatives were approved to serve as members of the OAATC:

Adam Holmes - Nashport*
Michael Heil - Hinckley
Carlos Grodsinsky - Hinckley
Joseph Coogan - Worthington*

Non-legislative committee members approved during today’s meeting come from diverse geographical backgrounds and have various areas of expertise. The aerospace and aviation committee are comprised of military representatives, academic experts, and industry leaders.

As set by law, the OAATC is comprised of 21 members. Members include three legislators from the Ohio Senate, three legislators from the Ohio House, one public member appointed by the Governor, and 14 members of the public appointed by the committee’s legislative members to provide expert recommendations. 

Formed in 2014, the committee is charged with developing a singular, statewide strategy geared to support and enhance Ohio’s robust aerospace and aviation industry.

A meeting of the full committee will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station (YARS). The meeting will be held the day before the 2017 Thunder Over the Valley Air Show at YARS, celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the U.S. Air Force.
