Columbus -
The State Controlling Board today committed more than $3.5 million for revitalization projects in Southwest Ohio. This funding received the full support of State Senator Bill Beagle (R - Tipp City) and came at the request of the Ohio Department of Development. Support for both projects will be allocated through the Clean Ohio Revitalization fund. The City of Dayton is set to receive nearly $2.2 million for remediation and infrastructure initiatives concerning the Goodwill Easter Seals project. In opening its new 80,000 square-foot headquarters, Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley will retain its 125 existing jobs while adding another 50 new jobs. Additionally, Goodwill Easter Seals will invest $10 million toward developing the new headquarters. "Thanks to the Controlling Board's recommendation, this great organization will strengthen its presence in our area," Beagle said. "Their good work plays an essential role in our community and the lives of our residents." The Piqua Power Plant Waterfront project was also on the receiving end of today's Controlling Board recommendations. The project was awarded $1.4 million to remediate land and demolish existing buildings. County and city officials have voiced interest in redeveloping the site as a waterfront park and trail along the Great Miami River. The City of Piqua plans on contributing over $471,000 for infrastructure needs.
Senator Bill Beagle serves the people of Ohio's 5th Senate District, which includes Miami County and portions of Montgomery and Darke Counties.
