STATEHOUSE -

State Senator Bill Beagle (R–Tipp City) today joined Ohio Governor John Kasich at the Whirlpool corporation facility in Greenville, Ohio to announce the creation of 400 new jobs. Beagle currently serves as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Workforce and Economic Development.

The event coincided with the formal announcement at Whirlpool’s headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.

“Our work in the Statehouse has been focused on making Ohio the most attractive place in the nation to make investments, start a business, and establish a career,” said Beagle. “Over the past few months, we’ve seen very clear examples of our hard work paying off.”

In addition to the 400 new jobs, Whirlpool will nearly double the size of their current facility, expanding from 250,000 square feet to 450,000 square feet. Groundbreaking on the expansion will take place in May 2014.

“What we are doing to make Ohio a better place for job creation is working,” added Beagle. “Fuyao Glass Company is creating 800 jobs in Moraine, Meijer Dairy is establishing 100 new jobs in Tipp City, and now Whirlpool is investing here in Greenville. This is good news for the Miami Valley, good news for Ohio, and good news for our hard working friends and neighbors who are looking for new opportunities in our state.”

Whirlpool’s announcement comes on the heels of Ohio’s recent employment report showing the state has created more than 238,000 private sector jobs since January 2011. The statewide unemployment rating has dropped to 6.9 percent.

In the last year, Ohio has also been recognized by three national publications as having the most improved business climate in the nation and a study by George Mason University ranked the state’s fiscal condition among the top ten states in the nation.
