COLUMBUS -

The Ohio General Assembly today held their Opening Ceremonies for the 131st General Assembly, officially marking the beginning of the new legislative session.

During the ceremonies, State Senator Bill Beagle (R–Tipp City) was sworn in for his second term in the Ohio Senate, representing the 5th District in the state legislature’s upper chamber. Senator Beagle handily won reelection to the seat in the November 4, 2014 General Election.

“I’m proud to be returning to the Senate and am thankful for the support from our community,” said Beagle. “I’m excited to get back to work serving the people of the district.”

During the 130th General Assembly, Senator Beagle was named the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Workforce and Economic Development. The recently formed panel has been tasked with pairing workforce development and educational opportunities with in-demand industries in order to help Ohioans retool their skills and find stable employment.

Prior to his service in the Ohio Senate, Beagle served as a member of the Tipp City Council where he served as Council President. He is also a former member of the Tipp-Monroe Community Services Board, the Tipp City Power Plant Reuse Committee, the Tipp City Planning Board, and the Tipp City Public Library Board of Trustees. He also worked for several years in the banking and finance industry.

Senator Beagle received his bachelor's degree in finance from Miami University and earned an MBA from Cleveland State University. He and his wife Karen live in Tipp City with their three children.

Beagle’s oath of office was administered by the Honorable Sharon Kennedy, Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court in the Senate Chamber in the historic Ohio Statehouse.
