Columbus -
The Ohio Controlling Board today announced that $295,975 has been made available to conduct a Phase II Environmental Assessment on the former American Carco property located in Montgomery County. As part of the assessment, more than 50 borings will be installed along with three groundwater monitoring wells. These resources will be made available through the Clean Ohio Assistance fund and will also help to determine if the property must be remediated. State Senator Bill Beagle (R - Tipp City) applauded the release of funds for the project. "I am grateful that the Controlling Board recognized the importance of a project like this," said Beagle. "This funding will help in restoring a piece of the overall landscape of our community, while also holding the potential of opening another door to an outside business." Last July, the Ohio Department of Development's Office of Policy, Research, and Strategic Planning identified Montgomery County as a Labor Surplus County. Prior to receiving approval from the Ohio Controlling Board, the project garnered endorsement on behalf of the Development Financing Advisory Council (DFAC).
Senator Bill Beagle serves the people of Ohio's 5th Senate District, which includes Miami County and portions of Montgomery and Darke Counties.
