Senator Brown Announces Funding For Housing Assistance
Funding Will Help Elderly And Low Income Homeowners

State Senator Edna Brown (D-Toledo) announced today that the state Controlling Board released more than $600,000 in Housing Trust Funds to Housing Assistance Grant Programs in Northwest Ohio. The funds will be split between Neighborhood Housing Services of Toledo and the Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio. "I am so pleased that two of the agencies that do an outstanding job to serve our most vulnerable populations in Northwestern Ohio have been awarded housing assistance funds from the Housing Trust Fund," said Senator Brown. "Providing the best quality of life possible for all of our citizens enhances life for the entire community." With their $253,000 in funding, Neighborhood Housing Services of Toledo will provide emergency home repairs and handicapped accessibility modifications for homeowners at or below 50 percent of the area median income. While the Office of Aging will use a $350,000 award to provide home repairs to homeowners age 60 and older. Both programs will serve a combined 221 people. The Controlling Board provides legislative oversight over certain capital and operating expenditures by state agencies and has approval authority over various other state fiscal activities.

Columbus—Today,Senator Edna Brown (D-Toledo) introduced SB 154 to abolish the use of capital punishment in Ohio. Senator Brown introduced similar legislation during the 129th and 130th Ohio General Assemblies.
