Senator Brown Announces Funding For Valentine Theatre In Toledo
$136,000 appropriation comes from capital bill (HB 497)

ColumbusState Senator Edna Brown (D-Toledo) announced today the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission has approved funding for The Valentine Theatre community project in Toledo, sponsored by the Toledo Cultural Arts Center.
 
“I am always happy to see funding go towards local community projects in Toledo,” said Senator Brown. “The Valentine Theatre is a hub for cultural and economic activity and I look forward to all of the future programing this funding will help facilitate at this beautiful facility.”
 
The Toledo Cultural Arts Center operates the Valentine Theatre and will use the grant money to purchase equipment directly related to the function of the facility. The project is expected to be completed by June 2016 and the facility will remain open and operable throughout.
 
According to the Valentine Theatre website: “The theatre is a 119-year-old 901-seat facility. After a 21-year effort led by the Toledo Cultural Arts Center Board of Trustees and the community, a $28 million renovation was unveiled on October 9, 1999. Since the Gala re-opening, more than 900,000 people have attended 1,200 international, national and area presentations, weddings and events. In nearly 16 years of operation, the theatre has been used by more than 50 community groups including the Toledo Symphony, Toledo Opera, Toledo Ballet, Ballet Theatre of Toledo, Toledo Jazz Society, Masterworks Chorale, University of Toledo, Central Catholic High School, St. John's High School and many others.”
