Columbus—State Senator Edna Brown (D-Toledo) and State Senator Randy Gardner (R-Bowling Green) announced today that the State Controlling Board has released $204,776 for the Network Edge Distribution Replacement Phase 1 project at the University of Toledo.

Brown is Senate Minority Whip and Gardner is the Senate Majority Leader.

The released money will be used to replace outdated network equipment located in multiple campus classroom buildings. Equipment updates are critical in ensuring that educators are able to efficiently instruct students, while also maintaining the importance of technology for research, distance learning, and general communications.

“I am happy to see funding allocated for equipment upgrades at the University of Toledo,” said Senator Brown. “We all understand the importance of education and technology in today’s world and it’s vital that we invest in both.”

Senator Gardner agreed.

“Senator Brown and I have worked together on numerous programs over the years,” Senator Gardner said. “This is another project that will make a difference.”

The State Controlling Board provides legislative oversight over some capital and operating expenditures by state agencies and has final approval authority over certain types of state fiscal activity.
