Columbus -

With the annual Medicare enrollment period scheduled to start October 15, State Senator Dave Burke (R- Marysville) is urging all area seniors to review the recent changes to the Medicare program to determine the best coverage option for their healthcare needs for 2013. Representatives from the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) will be holding a "Medicare Check-up" event at Union County Senior Services in Marysville on Thursday, October 11 at 9 a.m. to help individuals decide which Medicare plan option is right for them.

"Deciding which Medicare option best meets a person's needs and budget can be daunting, especially with the recent changes to covered services and co-pay amounts," Burke said. "Events like the ‘Medicare Check-up' offered by the Ohio Department of Insurance can help families ensure that they have all the information they need to make a smart and informed decision."

Individuals with questions regarding Medicare enrollment can contact OSHIIP at 1-800-868-1578. Information is also available by calling Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE or visiting www.medicare.gov.

Senator Burke represents the 26th Ohio Senate District, which encompasses all of Crawford, Logan, Marion, Sandusky, Union and Wyandot counties as well as portions of Ottawa and Seneca counties. For more information, please visit http://OhioSenate.gov/Burke.
