STATEHOUSE -

Ohio Senate President Keith Faber (R–Celina) today appointed State Senator Dave Burke (R–Marysville) to serve as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Medicaid.

The Medicaid Committee is a new panel, formerly part of the broader Medicaid, Health, and Human Services Committee. The committee’s separation emphasizes the significant reach of the state’s Medicaid program. Senator Burke sponsored legislation during the previous legislative session that is working to improve health outcomes, eliminate inefficiencies in the program, and reduce the growing cost of the department.

“As a healthcare provider and a business owner, I look forward to engaging both outcomes and value within the Medicaid system.”

A pharmacist by trade, Senator Burke is no stranger to public service having previously served as a member of the Marysville City Council and the Ohio House of Representatives prior to his service in the Senate.

Burke holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Ohio Northern University and an MBA from Capital University.

Chairman Burke will convene the committee in the coming weeks.
