The Ohio Senate today appointed Dave Burke (R- Marysville) as the senator for the 26th Senate District, which includes Crawford, Logan, Marion, Sandusky, Union and Wyandot counties as well as portions of Ottawa and Seneca counties. He replaces former Senator Karen Gillmor, who resigned to join the Ohio Industrial Commission. "It is an honor to join the Ohio Senate, and I am grateful to have this opportunity to serve the people of the 26th Senate District," Burke said. "I plan to continue to focus my legislative efforts on job creation, education and healthcare as we work to create a flourishing economy in Ohio that will benefit all of Ohio's families." Prior to joining the Senate, Burke served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives as well as vice-president of Marysville City Council. Earlier this year, then-Representative Burke sponsored legislation - now law- that gives state officials and local law enforcement agencies new tools to help better fight the growing problem of prescription drug abuse in Ohio. He also served as chairman of the Health and Human Services Subcommittee of the House Finance Committee. In addition to his legislative duties, Burke also owns and operates Dave's Pharmacy in Marysville. He and his wife Donna have two children, Alexandra and Adam.
