Columbus -
State Senator Dave Burke (R- Marysville) today commented on passage of House Bill 337, legislation that makes changes to Ohio law governing commercial drivers' licenses (CDLs). The measure included language from a bill that was originally sponsored by Senator Burke in the form of Senate Bill 235. This particular provision will establish a CDL skills test waiver for drivers with military commercial motor vehicle experience. "I think many of us can agree that those in our Armed Forces who safely operate eighteenwheelers while serving our country, should reserve the same right when returning home," Burke said. "I am certain that this legislation will play a role in improving Ohio's ability to retain and attract a skilled and qualified workforce. House Bill 337, which was sponsored by Representative Cliff Rosenberger (R - Clarksville) now awaits Governor Kasich's signature in order to become law.
Senator Burke represents the 26th Ohio Senate District, which encompasses all of Crawford, Logan, Marion, Sandusky, Union and Wyandot counties as well as portions of Ottawa and Seneca counties. For more information, please visit
