Ohio Senate President Keith Faber recently appointed Senator Bill Coley to serve as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Government Oversight and Reform.
The Government Oversight and Reform Committee is tasked with overseeing Ohio’s election law as well as providing legislative oversight for the state’s gaming industry and ethics regulations.
"I am very happy to assume chairmanship of the State Government Oversight and Reform Committee," said Coley. "Our committee is often entrusted with the obligation of making sure that our citizens find it easy to vote but hard to cheat in Ohio's elections.  We are also given the task of streamlining state government functions and ensuring that laws in a wide variety of areas are proper and provide the best return to all Ohioans. I look forward to working with my fellow members to ensure we fulfill these obligations."
In addition to his chairmanship, Coley will also serve a second term as Vice Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, the powerful committee charged with reviewing the state’s biennial budget proposal.
Senator Coley is a commercial litigation attorney with the firm Strauss and Troy and is licensed to practice in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. He received his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Dayton and his law degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
Senator Coley and his wife Carolyn live in Liberty Township.
