COLUMBUS — State Senators John Eklund and Nina Turner (D- Cleveland) recognized members of the Mentor High School boys basketball team yesterday for winning the Division I State Championship. Eklund and Turner presented the team and their coach, Bob Krizancic, with a resolution honoring their achievement during Wednesday’s Senate session.

“I am proud and deeply honored to present a Senate Resolution to the Mentor Boys Basketball team.  I congratulate each student and their coaches on their remarkably successful year, and Mentor’s first-ever state basketball championship,” Eklund said.  “The achievement of these young men speaks to their character, their ability to work together as a team, and their commitment to their school, their community and especially their families – congratulations on a job well done.”

“It is wonderful to see the talent and dedication of these young men pay off in this major statewide victory,” Turner added. “The first statewide championship in program history, Mentor players have truly made their mark on athletics history in Ohio and set a tough new precedent for themselves. Congratulations to the players, the staff, the school, and the City of Mentor!”
