Ohio Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina) today named State Senator Bob Hackett (R-London) as vice chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee.

"I am deeply honored to have been chosen for this new role," said Hackett. "Agriculture has a profound impact on every Ohioan: producing nearly $10 billion in products every year, employing 1 in 7 Ohioans and cultivating more than 14 million acres of dedicated farmland."

As vice chair, Hackett will play a key role in reviewing and developing legislation that impacts Ohio's agricultural industries.

In addition to the Agriculture Committee, Senator Hackett will also serve on the Senate Committees on Civil Justice, Criminal Justice, Insurance, State and Local Government, and Ways and Means, as well as the Finance Subcommittee on Workforce.

“I look forward to working with my Senate colleagues and building on our efforts to make government more efficient and creating opportunities for Ohio families," added Hackett.

In late February, Hackett was appointed to fill a vacancy in Ohio's 10th Senate District, encompassing all of Clark, Greene and Madison counties. Hackett had previously represented Ohio 74th House district, a post he had held since 2009. Prior to joining the legislature Hackett served as Madison County Commissioner from 2001 until 2008.
