Senator Larry Obhof and Senator Jay Hottinger present Richard Guggisberg with a resolution honoring Guggisberg Cheese on winning the 2015 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest.

COLUMBUS– State Senator Jay Hottinger (R-Newark) today joined colleagues from the Ohio Senate to honor Richard Guggisberg of Guggisberg Cheese for winning the 2015 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest.

Guggisberg Cheese entered a 200-pound Swiss cheese wheel to win the biennial competition held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from March 17 to 19.

Hottinger said, "Once again, national judges have confirmed what everyone in my community already knows: Guggisberg cheese is second to none. Richard Guggisberg and his team deserve high praise for the ingenuity, commitment, and attention to detail that make their products so outstanding."

The Millersburg-based cheese maker competed against more than 1,800 entries from 28 states for the championship title.

The U.S. Championship Cheese Contest, hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association, is the largest technical evaluation of cheese, butter and yogurt in the country. More than 33,000 pounds of dairy products were entered into the contest this year. For more information about Guggisberg's winning cheese products, visit https://www.babyswiss.com.
