COLUMBUS—State Senator Jay Hottinger (R-Newark) today issued the following statement regarding the shooting incident that occurred this morning at a nursing home facility in Kirkersville, Ohio:

“My heart goes out to the family of the Kirkersville police chief and the nursing home care staff who died in today's senseless attack, while protecting the facility's vulnerable residents. The families of the victims and the entire Kirkersville community remain in my thoughts and prayers. I have complete confidence and trust in local law enforcement, and will offer any assistance that may be needed from the state."
