Columbus -
Today, State Senator Kris Jordan (R - Powell) introduced Senate Bill 131, which would remove camping license restrictions on fairground operators during their annual fairs. Under current law, campgrounds and operators of recreational vehicle parks must obtain a license from their local health department. County fairs are exempt from this requirement, unless the fairground operates as a campground or recreational vehicle park at other times throughout the year. The proposed legislation would exempt such fairgrounds from the requirements of this license during the setup, operation and teardown of their annual fair, closing a loophole that puts them at a disadvantage compared to other county fairs throughout the state. "This legislation is simply about getting burdensome regulations out of the way of fairs," Jordan said. "Easing the license restriction will allow Ohio fairgrounds to operate in a cost-effective manner and ensure that as many Ohioans as possible will have the ability to enjoy their next fair experience."
Jordan represents Ohio's 19th Senate District, which includes Delaware, Knox, Morrow, Richland, and part of Ashland counties. Prior to serving in the Senate, he served as a State Representative and as a Delaware County Commissioner. He is a proven advocate for spending restraint, lower taxes, and family values. He lives in Powell with his wife, Melissa.
