State Senator Kris Jordan provides sponsor testimony on Senate Bill 108 before the Senate Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Committee.
Columbus -
Today, State Senator Kris Jordan (R- Powell) testified before the Senate Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Committee, urging support for Senate Bill 108, which would create the Oil and Gas Leasing Board and allow for the leasing of state lands for the purpose of oil and natural gas exploration. "SB 108 contains a transparent process for the leasing of state lands involving input from experts in the drilling industry as well as the state agency that owns the parcel," Jordan said in his testimony. "Beyond the jobs created by the day-to-day operation of these new wells, there is also the potential for job creation in the manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of the equipment, as well as a positive impact on local businesses around these leased sites with the increased traffic that will result from successful drilling. All told, this legislation provides potential benefits in the hundreds of millions of dollars with little to no cost or risk to the state."
Jordan represents Ohio's 19th Senate District, which includes Delaware, Knox, Morrow, Richland, and part of Ashland counties. Prior to serving in the Senate, he served as a State Representative and as a Delaware County Commissioner. He is a proven advocate for spending restraint, lower taxes, and family values. He lives in Powell with his wife, Melissa.
