Columbus -
Today Senator Frank LaRose (R-Akron) took part in an event announcing that Alcoa will invest $21 million toward the expansion of B&C Research, part of Alcoa's Wheel and Transportation Products business. LaRose applauded the company's expansion into Barberton, Ohio. The initiative is expected to create 30 full-time jobs while protecting 350 existing positions.

A new 35,000-square-foot facility will be built to house a new method for billet production. These developments will further cement Alcoa's status as an industry leader, while incorporating the latest innovative technologies to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. "Over the years, Alcoa has solidified itself as a cornerstone of our community," LaRose said. "Their continued success as a business is critical in securing our future success as a region. I congratulate the hard-working men and women of Alcoa, as well as the residents of Barberton and all those who played a part in bringing jobs to our doorstep."

The expansion is expected to be completed during the second half of 2012.
Senator Frank LaRose serves the people of Ohio's 27th Senate District.
