Columbus -
The ongoing effort to revamp the Cornerstone Business Park in Twinsburg received a major boost today. State Senator Frank LaRose (R - Copley) announced that the State Controlling Board has agreed to provide $2.2 million for the project's completion. The funds will be made available through the Ohio Job Ready Sites (JRS) Grant, which prepares properties for commercial use and job creation. Located on East Aurora Road, the City of Twinsburg and its project partners have committed to cleaning up more than 165 acres of industrial and manufacturing space, including a new 100,000 square foot facility for Vistar, a branch of the Performance Food Group's family of businesses. The state JRS Grant is the latest part of a $14 million commitment aimed at improving and remediating the site for business use and job creation. The funding will assist with debris removal and various demolition needs, as well as wetland mitigation, road construction, and the installation of sewage and electrical lines. "This project will be a great help in revitalizing our community and creating new opportunities for citizens in Twinsburg and the surrounding areas," LaRose said. "I look forward to working with Mayor Procop and city officials to identify additional ways to grow quality jobs and expand economic development in the area." The funding also earned the support of Ohio Department of Development Director Christiane Schmenk.
Senator LaRose represents the 27th Senate District which includes part of Summit County. He serves as Chairman of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review and Vice Chairman of the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee.
