COLUMBUS– State Senator Frank LaRose (R–Copley) yesterday honored the All American Soap Box Derby Champions at the Ohio Statehouse. Champions from all over Ohio gathered to represent the Stock, Super Stock, Masters and Ohio Super Kids divisions of the derby.

"It’s great to see hard-working young Ohioans learning about science, technology, engineering and mathematics in a fun and engaging way through the All American Soap Box Derby," said LaRose.

The Soap Box Derby is a youth racing program which has run nationally since 1934. World Championship finals are held each July at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio. The goal of the Soap Box Derby is to teach youth some of the basic skills of workmanship, the spirit of competition and the perseverance to continue a project once it has begun.
