Governing the States and Localities, a publication dedicated to covering politics, policy, and management for state and local government leaders, recently named Senator Frank LaRose (R–Copley) a “State Legislator to Watch.”

Governing has annually assembled a list of top legislators to watch since 2012. In the January 2014 issue, LaRose was named in their ranking ,“12 State Legislators to Watch in 2014,” which includes six Democrats and six Republicans from Statehouses across the nation.

The article, authored by Governing writer Louis Jacobson, states, “It’s a tough time to be a politician, but these state lawmakers are really making a mark.”

“I’m honored to have been recognized by Governing for the work we are doing in Ohio to restore civility to government and foster a political environment that encourages elected officials to put partisan politics aside and work together to solve problems for the good of the people we serve and represent,” stated LaRose.  “This list includes some truly outstanding leaders who have dedicated themselves to the honorable business of public service; I’m humbled to be counted among them.”

Governing stated that the lawmakers chosen for this year’s recognition “have shown a keen ability to strike alliances across party lines,” or have “racked up significant accomplishments during their time in office.”

Senator LaRose has been a member of the Ohio Senate since 2010 where he currently serves as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Public Safety, Local Government, and Veterans Affairs. Senator LaRose is a decorated Veteran of the U.S. Army and has served in the U.S. Special Forces as a Green Beret. He resides in Copley Township, Ohio with his wife, Lauren, and their two daughters.
