COLUMBUS -

The Ohio General Assembly today held their Opening Ceremonies for the 131st General Assembly, officially marking the beginning of the new legislative session.

During the ceremonies, State Senator Frank LaRose (R–Copley) was sworn in for his second term in the Ohio Senate, representing the 27th District in the state legislature’s upper chamber. Following months of hard work on the campaign trail, Senator LaRose won reelection to the seat in the November 4, 2014 General Election.

“It has been a prodigious honor to serve the people of our community for the past four years,” said LaRose. “I’m humbled that they have once again entrusted me with the responsibility of representing them in the Ohio Senate.”

A decorated veteran of the United States Army, LaRose served in both the 101st Airborne and in the U.S. Special Forces as a Green Beret. During his decade in uniform, in which he was stationed throughout the globe, Senator LaRose received numerous commendations and honors, including the Bronze Star.

“I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and continuing our work of making Ohio great again,” added LaRose. “The citizens we serve expect us to focus on problem-solving, not partisanship.  Our best days are ahead, if we work together as Ohioans to make it happen.”

During his tenure in the Senate, he has been named to several leadership posts including Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Public Safety, Local Government, and Veterans Affairs. During the past legislative session, LaRose also served as the Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review and as Vice Chairman of the Senate Public Utilities Committee.

Senator LaRose is a graduate of The Ohio State University and resides in Copley Township with his wife, Lauren and their two young daughters.

LaRose’s oath of office was administered by the Honorable Sharon Kennedy, Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court in the Senate Chamber of the historic Ohio Statehouse.

Each term in the Ohio Senate extends four years. LaRose’s term will expire at midnight on December 31, 2018.
