STATEHOUSE -

State Senator Frank LaRose (R–Copley) will be joining officials from the Beyond our Rails program in presenting a grant to Akron’s Furnace Street Mission (FSM) on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

Founded by transportation company CSX, Beyond Our Rails’ mission is to “make life safer, greener, healthier, and more rewarding” to the areas served by their railroads. The Furnace Street Mission was founded in Akron in 1926 and works to serve the areas needy while also aiding victims of crime and abuse. After learning of the great work FSM has done through the Public Safety Chaplaincy Center, Senator LaRose helped connect the Furnace Street Mission with CSX. The Public Safety Forces Chaplaincy Center offers free, confidential counseling and other services for police officers, firefighters, and other first responders.
