STATEHOUSE -

State Senator and Senate Education Chair Peggy Lehner (R–Kettering) today announced the launch of a website for the newly formed Senate Advisory Committee on Testing.

The site, which will link to the Ohio Senate’s main webpage, will provide users with information about the committee and grant them access to the resources and information received by committee members. Composed of various educational experts from across the state, the Advisory Committee is tasked with evaluating the administration of the new tests given to students in the 2014-2015 school year and making recommendations to the Ohio Senate on state-required assessments.

“I am happy to say the new website will include a section to facilitate public comment on state testing,” said Lehner. “I hope it will be a venue for educators, parents, and interested citizens to provide constructive feedback on how the state should move forward with testing. We have already heard from hundreds of educators and parents about the problems they encountered. At this point we are hoping to hear some creative solutions."

The Senate Advisory Committee on Testing met for the first time on March 18 and again on March 25. The committee will convene again early next month.

Senator Lehner invites all interested parties to “explore the new site, review the resources available, and leave a comment.”

To visit the committee website, go to http://sact.ohiosenate.gov/.
