Senator Gayle Manning (R–North Ridgeville) today announced the approval of $700,000 in funds to support Ford Motor Company’s project in Avon Lake as well as $200,000 in capital funds for an environmental assessment on the General Industries site property in Elyria.

The funds released to the Ford Motor Company will support the completion of public roadwork improvements for its Avon Lake facility, which recently announced plans to expand its operations.

“Ford Motor Company’s expanded operations at the Avon Lake facility is a wonderful recognition of the community’s commitment to economic development and the hard-working employees we have in the automotive and manufacturing industries,” Manning said. “The release of these funds for improvements to the facility further demonstrates this project’s value to the state of Ohio.”

The funds to the City of Elyria will support a Phase II environmental assessment on the property of the former General Industries site as part of the city’s General Industries Redevelopment Project.

“The remediation of the General Industries site is critical to protecting the health and safety of the Elyria community, and I’m thankful that these funds will allow the project to continue ensuring Elyria is a great place to live and work for generations to come,” added Manning.
