State Senator Gayle Manning (R–North Ridgeville) was last week named the “2013 Legislator of the Year” by the County Engineers Association of Ohio (CEAO).

The CEAO presented Manning with the award during their annual conference last week in Columbus for her leadership in crafting the state’s biennial transportation budget.

“I am a strong believer in ideas originating at the local level,” said Manning.  “My goal for the state transportation budget was to craft a plan that tackled our most crucial infrastructure needs while pulling from the state’s ready workforce so we could employ hard working Ohioans along the way. The input that my local engineers offered during this process was invaluable to me.”

Ohio’s county engineers oversee the maintenance and development of a variety of infrastructure projects in communities across the state, including the state’s 29,000 miles of urban and rural roadways and 25,600 bridges.

“Ohio’s county engineers are vital to strengthening the state’s infrastructure, while playing an important role in our continued economic growth,” added Manning.
