Celebrating Independence

As July 4 draws near, people across the nation will gather with family and friends for barbeques, parades and fireworks to mark our country’s independence.  More than two hundred years have gone by, but our nation remains inspired by the wisdom proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence:  “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”  
The freedoms and liberties we cherish in America were not easy to come by.  We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to tens of thousands of soldiers who have given their lives in defense of these principles. 
Regardless of how you plan to celebrate Independence Day, I hope that you will join me in thanking the many women and men who have answered our nation’s call and defended our families, our values, and our way of life.
