Senator Larry Obhof (R–Medina) today joined Governor John R. Kasich as he signed into law House Bill 130, legislation aimed at combatting human trafficking.
House Bill 130, known as the “End Demand Act,” seeks to further strengthen Ohio’s fight against human trafficking. Among its provisions, the legislation will increase penalties for solicitation of a minor, raising such crimes from a misdemeanor to a felony. The bill will also prohibit advertising massage and related services with the suggestion or promise of illegal sexual activity.
The initiative builds on progress made through House Bill 262 (from the previous legislative session), which strengthened state efforts to catch offenders of human trafficking, toughened penalties, and created the Victims of Human Trafficking Fund to offer aid to trafficking victims. Senator Obhof co-sponsored both bills.
“House Bill 130 is an important step in the fight against these heinous crimes,” said Obhof. “This bill will provide law enforcement with additional tools to safeguard our children and our communities.
House Bill 130 became immediately effective with the Governor’s signature.

COLUMBUS—Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) issued the following statement in response to news from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority that SkyBox Packaging LLC of Mansfield was approved for a 1.192 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit.
