Senator Larry Obhof joins leaders from the Medina community Friday to celebrate the grand opening of MedinaMade
COLUMBUS -

State Senator Larry Obhof (R-Medina) joined leaders from the Medina community Friday to celebrate the grand opening of MedinaMade, a one-of-a-kind gift shop featuring products made by local artisans.

The non-profit store is co-owned by the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the Society for Handicapped Citizens of Medina County, Inc./The Arc of Medina County. The store provides employment opportunities to Medina County residents living with developmental disabilities.

"MedinaMade is a shining example of our local community,” said Obhof. “The store features locally-made gifts, but more importantly, it is providing some really great people with the opportunity to showcase their talents and develop entrepreneurial skills, regardless of their disabilities."

More than 75 people attended the Friday afternoon ribbon cutting, including Medina Mayor Dennis Hanwell and State Representative Steve Hambley. Senator Obhof presented Melanie Kasten-Krause, executive director of SHC, with a commendation from the Ohio Senate.

MedinaMade is located on State Route 18 in the Montville Shopping Plaza, and features the works of more than 70 artisans from across Medina County.
