MILLERSBURG, Ohio -

State Senator Larry Obhof (R-Medina) and State Representative Dave Hall (R-Millersburg) recently visited the new multi-use facility under construction as part of the nearly completed Holmes County fairgrounds relocation project.

Located a half mile west of the old fairgrounds site, the new Harvest Ridge fairgrounds is being built at elevation to avoid the chronic flooding problems associated with its previous location. Construction will be completed in time for the facility to debut at the opening of the the 93rd annual Holmes County Fair, August 8-13.

"The fairground's relocation to Harvest Ridge helps to ensure the longterm viability of the Holmes County Fair and reduces facility maintenance costs associated with the flooding problem," said Obhof. "Countless hours have been invested by members of the fair board as well community and business leaders to make this relocation project possible."

In less than one month the newly relocated Holmes County Fair will open its gates to fairgoers and exhibitors for the very first time. Leaders in the Millersburg community consider the move to be the beginning of a new era in the fair's nearly centurylong history.

Senator Obhof and Representative Hall helped secure a $500,000 state capital grant for the construction of the new Tom, Eva & Sterling Humrichouser Livestock Barn, which will serve as a year-round home for events in Holmes County. In addition to the county fair, the new venue is expected to attract numerous events to the Millersburg area, including conventions, trade shows, and other tourism and industry events.
