Columbus -
State Senator Larry Obhof (R- Montville Township) announced that the Ohio Senate voted yesterday to approve House Bill 58, which conforms Ohio's tax code with changes made recently to the federal tax code. The changes will save taxpayers more than $45 million over the next three years and help them avoid complications when filing their tax returns. Obhof sponsored companion legislation in the Senate. "Without these changes, Ohioans could lose out on a number of beneficial tax reductions and face more complicated tax returns," Obhof said. "I am pleased that my colleagues in the Senate decided to take swift action on this issue, especially as we enter tax season." In addition, HB 58 also included an amendment sponsored by State Senator Tom Patton that creates a job retention tax credit for use in state economic development efforts. The credit is designed to help retain large Ohio companies that receive a substantial incentive offer to relocate to another state.
Larry Obhof represents the 22nd Ohio Senate District, which encompasses Medina, Holmes and Wayne counties and portions of Ashland County. For more information about Senator Obhof, please visit
