Senator Obhof testifies to save jobs and security in Mansfield.
Columbus -
State Senator Larry Obhof (R- Montville Township) appeared before the Senate State and Local Government and Veterans Affairs Committee to urge support in saving more than 800 jobs by asking Congress and U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta to maintain the C- 27J aircraft program at the 179th Airlift Wing in Mansfield. Obhof and Senator Kris Jordan (RPowell) are sponsoring Senate Concurrent Resolution 29, which formally makes this request. "The C-27J is a versatile aircraft capable of filling numerous roles in support of combat and humanitarian operations. The personnel of the 179th Airlift Wing have made important contributions to our national defense," Obhof said. "Terminating the C-27J program in Mansfield could eliminate more than 800 jobs in that community and would have a disproportionate and overwhelmingly negative impact on both the region and state."
Senator Obhof represents the 22nd Ohio Senate District, which encompasses all of Medina, Holmes and Wayne counties as well as portions of Ashland County. For more information, please visit
