COLUMBUS—Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) today presented a resolution to Brady Long of Wadsworth for winning the 2017 National Grocers Association’s Best Bagger. 

"I am pleased to recognize Brady for his hard work and commitment to excellence," said President Obhof. 

The-23-year-old University of Akron accounting student beat out 22 other baggers from around the country at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, winning the title and a grand prize of $10,000. 

The nationwide competition, designed to promote supermarket employeeshas been held by the National Grocers Association since 1987. Contestants are judged on speed of bagging, proper bag-building technique, weight distribution, as well as style, attitude and appearance.

Long has been Ohio's top bagger for two consecutive years but this was his first national title.

COLUMBUS—Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) yesterday signed a resolution which will reform the process for drawing Ohio's congressional districts. After months of public input and weeks of negotiations between leaders from both parties, Senate Joint Resolution 5 passed the Ohio Senate this week with a unanimous, bipartisan vote. It also passed the Ohio House with strong support and now goes to the May ballot for Ohio voters to approve. Obhof co-sponsored the resolution and was one of the lead negotiators for the eventual compromise.
