COLUMBUS– Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) on Tuesday honored the Greater Medina County Chamber of Commerce for winning the Ohio Chamber of Commerce's 2017 Excellence in Grassroots Advocacy Award.

The Greater Medina County Chamber earned the recognition for its policy advocacy and grassroots efforts to develop entrepreneurial interests and promote collaboration between businesses and the community.

"The team at the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce has done a good job of advocating for policies that promote economic growth," said Obhof. "More importantly, they are active in the local community. I'm proud of their record of service to our community and pleased to honor them."

"The Medina Chamber is a leading advocate for Ohio's job creators and a true asset to Medina," added Rich Thompson, the Ohio Chamber's Director of Political Programs. "This year they received our award because they hosted candidate forums, educated their members on pending business legislation and became active in the ballot initiative process."

President Obhof was joined by State Representatives Steve Hambley and Darrell Kick, as well as former University of Notre Dame head football coach Lou Holtz, to present a commendation to the Chamber.

The Medina Chamber will also be recognized today by President Obhof in a full session of the Senate at 1:30 p.m. The session will be streamed live on OhioSenate.gov and broadcast on the Ohio Channel.
