Senator Obhof presents Major Chad M. McGinty of Bellville with a Senate commendation recognizing his 27 years of service with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

COLUMBUS—State Senator Larry Obhof (R-Medina) this week presented retiring Major Chad M. McGinty with a Senate commendation recognizing his 27 years of service to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

"I'm honored to recognize Major McGinty today for his exemplary career as a State Highway Patrol officer," said Obhof. "He has dedicated his life to protecting Ohioans with the utmost integrity and strong moral character."

A resident of Richland county, Major McGinty began his career as a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 1989. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served at various posts including Mansfield and Ashland, among others. He held the ranks of sergeant, assistant post commander, lieutenant, post commander and staff lieutenant before being promoted to the rank of major and assuming responsibilities as commander of the Office of Field Operations in 2014. McGinty has served on the Special Response Team and Honor Guard, as an instructor at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy, and as the governmental affairs spokesperson of the Office of the Superintendent.

Obhof Signs Historic Congressional Redistricting Plan


COLUMBUS—Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) yesterday signed a resolution which will reform the process for drawing Ohio's congressional districts. After months of public input and weeks of negotiations between leaders from both parties, Senate Joint Resolution 5 passed the Ohio Senate this week with a unanimous, bipartisan vote. It also passed the Ohio House with strong support and now goes to the May ballot for Ohio voters to approve. Obhof co-sponsored the resolution and was one of the lead negotiators for the eventual compromise.
