COLUMBUS -

The Ohio Society of CPAs is pleased to announce that Sen. Larry Obhof, R-Medina, has been recognized with OSCPA’s Outstanding Legislator Award for his significant efforts to improve Ohio’s business climate.

As Majority Whip and as a member of the Senate Ways & Means Committee, Sen. Obhof has worked diligently to encourage efficiencies in state government. Among Obhof’s accomplishments was sponsorship of Senate Bill 26 (131st GA), a bill to reduce the filing fees to start a new business in Ohio by more than 20 percent. Sen. Obhof also sponsored Senate Bill 28 (130th GA), tax conformity legislation that enabled taxpayers to make adjustments to returns to decrease tax liabilities and compliance costs.

“Sen. Obhof should be commended for his leadership on numerous key issues important to Ohio CPAs,” said Scott D. Wiley, CAE, president and CEO. “His support of significant tax reform at the state and municipal levels and his efforts to ease doing business in Ohio are greatly appreciated.”

Where looking to the future is concerned, Sen. Obhof spoke about the importance of public service to a group of CPAs during OSCPA’s first Young CPA Day at the Statehouse earlier this year. Learn more in this video.
