State Senator Larry Obhof (R-Medina) applauded May’s employment report released today, which shows continued improvement in the state's unemployment rate and a steady increase to the state's labor force.

Ohio added 9,200 new jobs in May, according to today's report by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services. The state's unemployment rate dropped to 5.1 percent with total job growth at nearly 80,000 this year, while Ohio's labor force continues to grow with a total of 125,000 new participants in the last 12 months.

“This is uplifting news for Ohio businesses and families," said Obhof. "I'm pleased to see important improvements to Ohio’s business climate, combined with lower taxes and regulatory reform, are continuing to set our state's economy on the right track. Creating opportunities for Ohioans remains our top priority and we are committed to making Ohio a more attractive place for employers to do business."
