State Senator Larry Obhof (R–Medina) today applauded the August employment report released by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, which shows the state's continued decrease in unemployment and growth in private sector job creation.

In August, Ohio gained 16,500 new private sector jobs and unemployment dropped to 4.7 percent, well below the national average of 5.1 percent.
“Improving Ohio's economy is a top priority for the Ohio Senate," said Obhof. "While this is good news, many Ohioans are still looking for work, and its important that we continue to push pro-growth policies, such as increased job training to help move our workforce forward."

The largest job growth occurred in the construction (+2,700); professional business and services (+5,700); trade transport and utilities (+5,300); and leisure and hospitality (+2,900) industries.
