State Senator Larry Obhof (R-Medina) today highlighted a recent report by Secretary of State Jon Husted showing that 8,495 new entities filed to do business in the state of Ohio last month, an increase of more than 900 new businesses compared to August 2015.

The report demonstrates the continued positive trend of new business filings in Ohio. More than 3,500 more entities have filed to do business in the state during 2016 than at the same point in 2015.

"We are on track to set a record for the most new business formations in state history," said Obhof. "This is good news for Ohio's economy, but we must build on this momentum by continuing to improve the state's business climate."

In 2015, Senator Obhof sponsored Senate Bill 26 and co-sponsored House Bill 3, which cut the filing fees for starting a new business or non-profit entity by more than 20 percent.

Ohio is now the least expensive state to start and maintain a business in the Midwest.
