State Senator Larry Obhof gives sponsor testimony in support of Senate Bill 7 during Senate committee.
Columbus -
State Senator Larry Obhof (R- Montville Township) recently appeared before the Senate Ways and Means and Economic Development Committee to give sponsor testimony in favor of Senate Bill 7, his legislation that would conform Ohio's tax code with recent changes made to the federal tax code, a move that would save taxpayers more than $45 million over the next three years. The General Assembly approved similar tax conformity legislation in December of last year; however, the bill was signed into law by the Governor before federal legislation was enacted, meaning the latest federal tax code changes were not captured. "Not conforming our state tax code to match the latest changes at the federal level could mean that Ohioans will not be able to enjoy these tax reductions and their tax returns would be more complicated," Obhof said. "I believe that it is in our best interest to address this situation as quickly as possible, especially given the difficult financial times many families and businesses are experiencing."
Larry Obhof represents the 22nd Ohio Senate District, which encompasses Medina, Holmes and Wayne counties and portions of Ashland County. For more information about Senator Obhof, please visit
