Columbus -
State Senator Larry Obhof (R- Montville Township) voted Wednesday in favor of landmark legislation designed to revitalize Ohio's economy and streamline job creation efforts across the state. The Senate gave bipartisan support to House Bill 1, also known as the JobsOhio plan, with a vote of 31-2. The landmark legislation is a major priority of Governor John Kasich's administration. It allows the creation of a non-profit corporation focused exclusively on state job creation and retention, received bipartisan Senate support. "The message we got from voters last year was loud and clear," said Obhof, who co-sponsored the bill. "They're tired of struggling to find work, and they're frustrated by the lack of economic development. This bill creates a bold, innovative approach to job creation that allows the governor's administration to cut through the red tape and make Ohio more competitive in the fight to attract and keep businesses in our state." The Senate added more than two-dozen amendments to the bill designed to increase the level of transparency and accountability of the new organization and its employees. House Bill 1 now awaits Governor Kasich's signature to become law.
