COLUMBUS -

State Senator Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) today recognized the University of Rio Grande soccer team on winning the 2015 NAIA National Championship tournament held in Delray Beach, Florida.

"These young men have represented Ohio and their university well," said Peterson. "National championships are won through hard work and resilience and this diverse group of student-athletes put forth a level of dedication that has paid off."

The championship was the second national title for Rio Grande, which finished 23-1, and its first since 2003.

"With a roster that includes students from eight different countries and many Ohioans, it's impressive to see this team come together to bring home a national title to Ohio in a truly global sport."
