Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood) was elected to serve Lakewood, Cleveland and Ohio's 23rd Senate District in November, 2010. He comes from the Ohio House of Representatives, where he served four terms as the Representative for Ohio's 13th House District. After graduating cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business and political science from Walsh College, Skindell earned his law degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He represented the people of Lakewood as a Councilman at Large between 1998 and 2002.

06.23.17 - Senator Skindell Opposes Budget Amendment That Could Increase Electric Bills

 

Today, Senator Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood) spoke out against a Senate amendment added to Amended Substitute House Bill 49, known as the state’s biennial operating budget. The amendment, which allows the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) to adjust rates to utility customers of electric distribution utilities based on its credit rating, could result in higher rates to customers. The amendment was secretly inserted into the bill at the last minute, without opportunity for the public to weigh in.

Columbus – State Senator Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood) voted “No” today on Amended Substitute House Bill 49, known as the state’s biennial operating budget. Among many concerns, Senator Skindell cited the disinvestment in people and communities and the continuation of tax loopholes for corporations and the wealthy as areas where the bill fell short.

Columbus—Today, Senate Minority Leader Kenny Yuko (D-Richmond Heights) and Senator Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, spoke out after the Ohio Senate released its version of the state budget (HB 49).  The Senate plan calls for more than $1 billion in cuts to erase a growing deficit and does nothing to correct misguided GOP tax policies.

 
 

05.30.17 - Senator Skindell Casts Vote To Certify Congressional Redistricting Ballot Issue

 

Columbus – Today, State Senator Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood), in his role as a member of the State Ballot Board, voted to certify a proposed constitutional amendment to change Ohio’s system of drawing congressional districts.
